Another story set in the “Honest, the Martian Ate Your Dog” universe. Most of my stories since “Honest” have been set in Kabul City since that’s where the original story was set. However, I felt that it was time for a change of scenery.
Plus, the current situation in Sri Lanka made me want to set a story there.…

A really, really long time ago, I wrote a few lines as the seed for a short story about a man on the run from his wife’s wrath after selling her dog to a martian. Then I forgot all about it.
A long time after that, I took that snippet and turned it into a novel called “Honest, the Martian Ate Your Dog” as a test for a novel writing app that I was coding for my wife at that time.…
When I wrote The Doll, I had a vague idea of writing a few further stories about the doll soon, but had no clear idea of what I wanted to write about. But then I saw the above image, (or rather the original here) by Nazly Ahmed and a new story started taking shape in my head …

Around the beginning of the year, Nazly Ahmed tweeted a photo (or rather, two photos) which made me pause. I wondered what the story behind that image was but then forgot about it for the time being.
Yesterday, Nazly tweeted about a story that Milani B. had written based on his photograph. The story is in Sinhala so some of you might not be able to read it — and that’s a pity since it’s a good old Sri Lankan horror story, like the ones I used to read as a child.…
